BrainScaleS (Brain-inspired multiscale computation in neuromorphic hybrid systems) was an EU FET-Proactive FP7 funded research project. The project started on 1 January 2011 and ended on 31 March 2015. The BrainScaleS project built on the research carried out in the [FACETS](../facets) project (2005–2010) and supported educational aspects together with the Marie-Curie initial training network [FACETS-ITN](https://facets.kip.uni-heidelberg.de/ITN/index.html). It was a collaboration of 19 research groups from 10 European countries. The hardware development on the neuromorphic computing systems is continued in the Human Brain Project (HBP) in the Neuromorphic Computing Platform.
