Die folgende Arbeit diskutiert die Nutzung von physikalischen Erklärungsmodellen im Bereich der Alternativmedizin. Geschichte und Beschaffenheit der alternativmedizinischen Behandlungen werden am Beispiel von Akupunktur und Homöopathie vorgestellt. Die Evidenz und Stärke des Placebo-Effekts wird nach heutigem Kenntnisstand dargestellt und die Wirkung der alternativmedizinischen Behandlungen mit diesem verglichen und von diesem abgegrenzt. Im zweiten Teil der Arbeit werden alternative physikalische Erklärungsansätze und Wirkmechanismen der alternativmedizinischen Behandlungen erörtert. Dabei werden schwerpunktmäßig quantenmechanische Modelle behandelt. Zuletzt wird die Notwendigkeit dieser alternativen Erklärungsansätze kritisch diskutiert, in dem aktuelle konventionelle Modelle der Medizin und Biologie vorgestellt werden.

In this thesis the use of physics as an explanatory model in the field of alternative medicine is reviewed. Therefore we illuminate history and nature of CAM treatments, using the example of acupuncture and homeopathy. Recent evidence for the placebo effect and it’s magnitude are discussed. The CAM treatments’ efficacy is compared with and differentiated from placebo. In the second part of this thesis, alternative theories by physics for mechanisms of efficacy of CAM treatments are presented and critically discussed. This review will emphasize on quantum physical theories. The need of these alternative theories will be examined, presenting the most common conventional theories from the medical and biological field.
