| Abstract (en) | This thesis explores methods of engineering optical potentials for dual-species ultra-cold quantum gas experiments. A theoretical picture is presented that allows the creation of independent optical dipole potentials through linear combinations of light fields in a two-dimensional polarizability space. For the combination of Sodium and Potassium a wavelength pair of 532 nm and 709 nm was chosen by minimizing scattering rates. An optical setup was constructed to simulate the two-color operation of a Digital Micromirror Device (DMD). Two methods of controlling two light fields with a single DMD are tested: temporal modulation by alternating the illuminating lights and simulating a dual diffraction pattern. The advantages and limitations of both approaches for incorporating a spatial potential in the SoPa experiment are discussed. |
