The file should contain a table with the measured data. The table consists of several columns, some of which are used for the plot. The numbers of the columns, to be used for the plot, should be given in the format field, separated by colons:

• If you specify two columns, a plot without error bars will be produced. E.g. the Format 1:3 means that the first column contains X values, and the third one contains Y values;
• If you specify three columns, the errorbars in Y will be shown. E.g. the Format 1:3:4 means that the first column contains X values, the third one contains Y values and the fourth one contains Errors_of_Y.
• If you specify four columns, the errorbars in both directions will be displayed. E.g. the Format 1:3:2:4means that the first column contains X values, the third one contains Y values, the second column contains Errors_of_X and the fourth one contains Errors_of_Y.

The numerical results are both shown on this Web page and plotted in an EPS file. You can save the file, print and attach it to your report.

Your data are plotted on the Webserver using the free Linux GNUPlot program. If you have some Linux and programming experience, you can download the GNUPlot macro fitlorentz.gplt and modify it. You can edit the macro file using your favorite text editor (nedit, xemacs, ...) to make plots. The usage is explained in comments in the file.
