The publication of scientific documents puts special demand on typesetting tools. Especially the heavy use of mathematic formulae in physics as well as large lists of citations make LaTeX an interesting and important tool for physicists in writing theses - ranging from bachelor's to professorial theses - as well as publications. Based on the program TeX, the typesetting system LaTeX has become a quasi-standard for physicists since many years, convincing by its high-quality output, stability and backwards compatibility.
This course gives an introduction into the LaTeX system, focussing on the installation, basic principles and first steps in producing high-quality documents. Emphasis is laid on typesetting maths, including figures and tables and automated typesetting of lists of references and citations. The participants are recommended to bring their own laptop if possible. The course language will be German or English, depending on the participants' preference.
For this course, you need to bring a laptop!
Two students can share one laptop.
