We are excited to announce the second hackathon on the EBRAINS Software Distribution! This is the main track of the EBRAINS hackathon, alongside several parallel sessions on other EBRAINS-related topics and another day of sessions focusing on scientific workflow use cases.

One of our primary goals will be migrating to a structured, Python-based build flow that was designed from previous approaches based on the current CI build as well as the yashchiki tool developed at Electronic Visions. This modern approach aims to significantly improve support for:

Containerized and native deployments
Separation of source fetching, building and software deployment
Effective cache interaction

Key Focus Areas and Sessions

We'll also have dedicated sessions on a range of high-priority topics:

HPC and Resource-Heavy Workflows: We'll dive into aspects like job dispatching, orchestration, and CI integration in the HPC environment
Testing and Quality Assurance: Beyond functional validation, we will focus on performance validation to ensure that ESD deployments meets required speed and efficiency standards
ESD Management: We'll explore strategies for creating subsets and supersets of the ESD to better manage different DevOps needs
